How To Write A Cold Email
& Landing That Dream Job
Cold calls, cold emails, cold showers. We hate them.
But just like an icy water blast can boost your circulation, a cold email to the right person, can inject new life into your network and your career.
Whether it’s approaching a prospective client, a job prospect or just someone you really admire, it’s easy to put off contacting the person because, frankly, you have no idea what to say.
But that email gone unsent could be the greatest opportunity of your life.
So here are a few basic tips to get in touch with just about anyone via email.
NAKED'S COLD EMAIL FORMULA
1. Establish yourself: Your name, where you’re from, what you do or what you are about
2. Flatter them: Mention their role, why you admire and respect them and what they are doing
3. Cut to the chase - they are busy: Tell them why you are getting in touch. If you want to meet, then suggest you catch up to share information (rather than just pick their brain). Think here about what might be useful to them
4. Take the lead: Whether it’s a meeting, coffee or follow up call give a couple of specific time options and offer to come to them or a location near them or one of their choosing
And always, if you do go for coffee, shout it!
